THE HISTORICAL COLLECTION
This collection includes written records and objects from the 16th century to the present day, relating to the lives of Heves County and Eger inhabitants. We have divided the items into several sections.
It also contains badges, medals and figurines, and tools and utensils used by the town craftsmen. It also preserves emergency banknote rarities from 1848-49 and 1944-45, share certificates and lottery tickets.
We arranged our weapon collection according to the various conflicts, including the border castle battles, Rákóczi's War of Independence, the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence, World War I and II. A highlight is the Damascus steel sword of István Mesterházy, a major of the Heves County Guard, a fantastic military relic, due to its owner's heroic role in the 1848-49 revolution.
Here you will find an archive of historical documents, black and white and colour photographs, several hundred black and white glass negatives and coloured slides.
The postcard collection includes old cards from Heves County settlements, Eger and various other locations in the historical Kingdom of Hungary.
The poster and leaflet collection contains posters from 1919, 1944-45, 1956, and theatre posters. We also collect deposit copies, magazines and pamphlets.
Our reference documentation includes manuscripts, maps, drawings, copies of documents, dissertations and exhibition scripts, while our collection of printed media items includes individual publications and copies thereo.
